May 30th - Dublin to Avoca

Our morning did not begin well. Dave's luggage had yet to arrive, and Shelby's cheek had puffed up from his infection. After a doctor visit, complete with antibiotics, we were on our way, barely off schedule.

Our first stop was the Sally Gap, on the old Military Road through the Wicklow Mountains. We took pictures of the beautiful landscape further down the mountain. Next we stopped at Powerscourt Waterfall, which has a spectacular 400-foot drop. This was the background for today's group picture.

After grabbing a quick lunch, we moved on to Glendalough, the famed early monastic settlement where much of western civilization was preserved during the dark ages.

We finished our photography for the day at the Meeting of the Waters in Avoca, a breathtaking place that evoked a feeling of serenity.

We had dinner at the Vale View Hotel where we met the Archdeacon of Christ Church Cathedral, where some of us visited yesterday. We arrived at the quaint bed & breakfast to the wonderful news that Dave's luggage had arrived. Luggage did arrive, but it wasn't Dave's.
